日本人の隠れた人種差別意識

中目黒の気取ったメキシカンレストランの店外に飾ってあるメニューに描かれていたメキシコ人。それがヨッパライでひげを蓄えて、追いはぎスタイル。挙句の果てにテキーラの瓶を片手に銃を乱射してるときてる。この筆者は、中目黒という日本でも気取ったお洒落な街に入る場所でこんな人種差別的な見方をした絵がどうどうと描かれていることに驚いているようです。political correctness（政治的に正しい、というモノの見方）は日本では決して理解されないのかもしれないとまで言ってます。確かにそうなのかもね。ただ中国や韓国などのアジアの近い国に対してはpolitical correctnessがメディアでも働き始めているようですが。とりあえず人種で十把一絡にされるとあまりいい気持ちがしない、というヒトがいると覚えておくだけでもいいかもしれない。

I guess, what he said is kind of right. We Japanese are likely to have a lot of stereotypes...I don't count out these preocupation here though. These problems, to my eyes, cause that Japan is the isolated country floating in the ocean. There have been not so many oppotunities to live with foreigners and at the same time, not so easy to go abroad (nowadays getting easier though..but still. It costs all of 70,000JPY to go to the UK by air! ridiclous..)
